Annual Earnings Doubled with College Degree

The United States Census Bureau has released new data that proves the value of an college education in America.

Workers who are eighteen years and over who have a bachelor’s degree earn an average of just over $50,000 a year. Those workers with no college degree earn just under $28,000. That is not all. Workers who hold an advanced degree average $74,000 and those who do not have a high school diploma earn only $18,000 annually.

The report shows that Minnesota, Wyoming, Nebraska and Montana has the most people who have a high school diploma, around 91 percent. The District of Columbia has the highest proportion of people who have bachelor’s degrees or higher, which is closely followed by Massachusetts.

The Midwestern region of the U.S. has the highest proportion of people who are high school grads at 88.3 percent, followed by people in the Northeast at 86.5 percent, the Western states at 84.3 percent and the South at 83.0 percent.

More women graduate from high school than men but men are more likely to have a bachelor’s degree or higher compared to women.
