Can High School students take online college courses?
High school students looking to maximize their time in school often want to earn credits for college while they are finish their high school diploma. But can high school students take online college courses for college credits? It is possible, based on what you call dual enrollment.
Dual enrollment is a program that has been implemented in community colleges, allowing students to take college credits alongside their high school coursework. They may enroll in regular college programs, in specially scheduled classes in the college, or enroll in advanced high school classes equivalent to college credits.
Online college credits are possible, with many universities extending their distance learning programs to dual-enrolled high school students. Learning is through the use of videotapes, online streaming lectures, and a central blackboard site from where they get readings and interact with a mentor and peers.
