Department of Education and Accreditation
Many people mistakenly believe that the U.S. Department of Education accredits colleges, universities and other academic institutions and organizations. Still others know that the Department of Education does not accredit institutions but actually believe that it should. At this time however, the Department of Education simply recognizes certain agencies for their commitment to educational standards and by recognizing these agencies, the Department of Education is unofficially giving it’s stamp of approval for them to provide accreditation to educational organizations that meet certain basic criteria that help ensure that a satisfactory level of education is consistently being delivered to students.Â
