Financial Aid Estimates of Undergrads
The National Postsecondary Student Aid Study or NPSAS has provided data that estimates the average tuition and fees, cost of attendance and the percentage of undergrads who received various types of financial aid. The average amounts received were compiled with a particular focus on loans and grants.
The cost of a college degree program varies depending on the type of institution a student attends. In the school year 2007 through 2008, students who went to public two year community colleges made up forty percent of all undergrads. Twenty-nine percent were enrolled in public four year and private not-for-profit four year colleges and universities. Eight percent of undergrads that school year attended more than one school.
An undergrad’s attendance status-full or part time, can determine the amount of tuition that is charged and the students eligibility for financial aid.
An example of this is that a student must be going to school at least half time in order to receive a Stafford loan or if they wish to have their cost of living expenses taken care of by a Pell Grant.
