How to Manage Your Money While In College
If you are a student, perhaps you have not seriously taken a look at your financial picture. If you have not started to make money, your focus is probably on your school work and having fun. It is however, important to take these times seriously as the mistakes you make while earning your college degree can follow you for the rest of your life.
You should be sure to focus on your budget. You should draw up a budget and then stick to it. You can still have fun, but you should budget your fun. Set limits for yourself regarding clothing, gadgets, cars and computers.
You should also try to save money while in college. Work summer jobs or nights and weekends so that you can pay for next year’s tuition.
If you need to take out a student loan, do not take more than you need. Choosing a less than prestigious college is cheaper and this means that you will not need to borrow so much to attend the non-Ivy league college.
Lastly, be sure to get a job while you are in college. Not only will it look great on your resume later, but it will be a means by which you can earn money to pay for books, tuition or food and clothing.
