The course is summarized by the university as, “350 Daytime Serials: Family and Social Roles. Analysis of the themes and characters that populate television’s daytime serials and investigation of what impact these portrayals have on women’s and men’s roles in the family and work place. The course compares and contrasts prime-time programs with daytime serials for these themes”. The course allows students to explore and analyze the characters, themes and plots of selected daytime soap operas and how they relate back to current social trends and behavior.
