Is There Such a Thing as Sin in Art?

College students can find the answer to this and many other questions regarding the moral content of many works of art by both classical artists and their contemporary peers. The Rhode Island School of Design is offering “The Art of Sin and the Sin of Art”, a class designed to compare the relationship between perceived sin and the art world. The course catalog even invites students to “lust with the saints and burn with the sinners.” Although in some areas this course may be considered controversial or at least very subjective, it provides students, particularly art students, with a platform and arena to discuss and share ideas about prevailing views, morals and values in regard to art.
