Obtaining Accreditation

There are several steps involved for a college, university or other academic institution to obtain accreditation. The process can take several years and can be quite expensive. The primary reason for obtaining accreditation is to assure students that the institution adheres to standards to provide a high quality level of education to their enrollees.

Accreditation also helps legitimize an organization and helps differentiate it from illegitimate organizations that are more concerned with their financial earnings than the quality of education their so-called graduates obtain from them. There are many scams and diploma mills around that heavily market their inferior, and often bogus college degree courses to simply boost their profits. Meanwhile, unsuspecting graduates find themselves under-educated and unprepared to meet the demands for their respective careers because they never received the level of education they deserved.
