President Obama’s Plan for Higher Education
President Barack Obama won the American elections running on the slogan, “Change we need”. Part of this change now includes the realization of President Obama’s Plan for Higher Education.
One of the key platforms includes investing in early education. His zero-to-five plan consists of giving support to parents and their children, so that these children will be primed for entry in preschool.
Through this plan, he also intends to make preschool a voluntary and universal step in education. He also plans to improve the quality of education by bolstering support for high-performing schools, and closing down charter schools that are not performing up to par.
Math and science will become the new national priority, and students will be afforded more afterschool opportunities. Lastly, the American Opportunity Tax Credit, aimed at making a college education affordable, provides $4000 to students to use for college in exchange for 100 hours of community service.
