The Department of Education website notes that sometime in the Spring of 2007, “Secretary Spellings will convene a Summit with representatives from the higher education and business communities and student, parent and policy maker groups to address the challenges families face when planning for college and the need for more graduates in the workforce”. This summit is a direct result of the final report findings presented to Secretary Spellings her Commission on the Future of Higher Education, an organization she created in 2005 to research and make recommendations for improving the accessibility and delivery of higher education in colleges and universities across America.
