What is Teach For America?
Teach For America (TFA) is an organization that provides recent college graduates with an opportunity to teach in urban and rural public schools around the nation. This organization chooses exceptional college graduates based on their individual achievements in school, work and extracurricular activities.
These individuals will have completed their college degree in their chosen field and will be assigned to an area that has a shortage of qualified instructors. These assignments will normally be in low income areas where schools and their students have additional challenges to obtain resources and educators.
All in all, TFA members provide a great service to communities that need them the most. Hopefully, their efforts will inspire the federal government, public and private agencies and individuals to invest their time and resources to this worthy cause.
Graduate, master and doctorate students can all lend a hand to this worthwhile cause. By sharing their education, experience and knowledge by teaching underprivileged students, these exceptional educators are performing a much needed service.
Current students that want to participate in this program should continue to excel in their studies and obtain their college degree.
